You may be visiting this page because someone approached you at your door, in the street or by phone on behalf of Équiterre.
Yes, Équiterre carries out fundraising campaigns to inform the public about its mission and invite those who wish to support the organization by making a donation.
This page will help you quickly verify who may contact you, how to recognize our teams and what to do if you have any doubts.
Our 2026 fundraising campaigns
From May 4 to the end of November 2026, ambassadors mandated by Équiterre will be meeting people in Greater Montréal and Québec City.
These activities may take place:
- door to door
- in the street
- in French or English
Our field teams work with Engagement Public, a face-to-face fundraising organization mandated by Équiterre.
Équiterre ambassadors may also contact you by phone. These people are directly employed by Équiterre and may reach out throughout the year.
How can you recognize someone representing Équiterre?
People soliciting donations on behalf of Équiterre must be able to clearly identify themselves.
In the field, our ambassadors generally wear:
- an Équiterre vest or jacket
- Équiterre’s logo
- a name badge
They should also be able to clearly explain why they are contacting you, what Équiterre’s mission is and how your donation can support our work.
By phone, Équiterre ambassadors must also clearly identify themselves and answer your questions about the campaign, donations and your membership status.

Why does Équiterre ask for donations?
Équiterre is a citizen-based and independent organization. Public donations are essential to help us pursue our mission, remain independent in our public positions and bring a credible voice to public debate.
Donating to Équiterre also means becoming a member of an engaged community that wants to be part of the solution to environmental crises. Every contribution counts: even a symbolic donation can make a difference when it is added to those of thousands of others who believe in the need to act.
Your support gives us the means to keep informing, mobilizing, proposing concrete solutions and advocating for fairer, more sustainable collective choices.

Are donations eligible for tax credits?
Yes. Équiterre is a registered charity and can issue official donation receipts for tax purposes.
These receipts generally allow donors to claim charitable tax credits on their federal and provincial income tax returns, depending on their tax situation. For donors, it is a way to concretely support our mission while benefiting from the measures in place to encourage donations to recognized organizations.
Équiterre’s charitable registration number is 89405 7132 RR0001.
Thank you for taking the time
If someone representing Équiterre approached you, thank you for taking the time to listen.
Your support, whether through a donation, membership, conversation or simply an interest in our mission, helps strengthen an independent organization rooted in civil society and committed to fair and sustainable environmental solutions.
