Electric Bicycles in Quebec: Uses, Challenges, and Benefits

Results of a Study of Participants in the Vélovolt 2025 Program

Published on

This report presents the results of a study conducted by Équiterre based on fifteen semi-structured interviews with participants in the Vélovolt 2025 program. The study examines how living conditions and perceptions of e-bikes and the built environment shape individuals’ ability to incorporate electric-assist bicycles (e-bikes) into their daily commutes in Quebec.

To conduct this research, Équiterre received funding from the Government of Quebec through the Action Climat Québec program of the Fonds d’action québécois pour le développement durable, which stems from the Plan for a Green Economy 2030. Vélovolt also benefits from financial support from the Greater Montreal Climate Fund and Hydro-Québec. We would also like to thank the organizations participating in the project that provided financial support for the campaign: A4 - Architecture and Design, EXP, and Jambette.
