Unsurprisingly, a product’s durability and repairability have a significant influence on consumers’ purchasing decisions. In fact, people are willing to spend more on goods they can keep for longer. So what are we waiting for to clearly label the durability of the products we sell?
This brand-new report from Équiterre reveals the results of a Canadian survey designed to assess the public’s understanding of the concepts of sustainability and repairability and their influence on purchasing decisions. Given that this information clearly has a major impact on our consumption habits, one has to wonder why the government is reluctant to require transparency from manufacturers, in addition to holding them fully accountable for the products they bring to market. Surely that should be the starting point, shouldn’t it?
