Canada’s Electric School Bus Report Card

A comparative assessment of different jurisdictions across the country

Published on

The transition to electric school buses is an opportunity to advance significant climate, health, and economic benefits, while strengthening Canada’s industrial resilience. Yet, progress towards electrifying school buses has been slow in Canada.

This first comparative assessment of progress toward electrifying school bus fleets across Canadian provinces and territories, created by the Canadian Electric School Bus Alliance (CESBA), evaluates how effectively jurisdictions are positioning themselves to transition away from diesel-powered school transportation.

Read the report for more information on :

  • which provinces are leading the way on school bus electrification;

  • how each jurisdiction compares across four pillars: fleet electrification progress, policy and regulatory goals, funding and incentives, and charging infrastructure development;

  • the three decisive drivers of successful electric school bus adoption.
